The stress of getting a replacement lappie

My lappie (named Pacqui) has served me well for almost 4 years now. However, the past days, he has been having tantrums. Either he presses keys on its own (when not needed) or the keys do not function (when i deliberately press it). The screen goes white when opened at a certain angle too.

Our working relationship just can't continue like this anymore. That is why i went window shopping for a replacement lappie.

I have to consider a lot of things. Size, performance, look and cost!

List shortened to this with considerations:

Macbook Air - cool, good-looking, small, compact, long battery life, quick start-up, expensive, not as powerful
Macbook Pro - cool, powerful, expensive, good-looking, nice graphics card and processor
Acer Timeline X - thin, compact, light, long battery life, midrange cost
HP Pavillion g4 - powerful, relatively affordable, not as pretty as Macbook and Acer Timeline X,
Sony Vaio Y - compact, thin and small, no optical drive, not as powerful

Went home without anything bought. Will just think things over. Or wait until I am sooooo rich i can just get all. Stress!

Trying to be Stress-free

I used to blog everyday. Not until i had my hands full of work (and at the same time, i got so immersed with multiply and facebook and twitter and stuff).

But here i am again. I just realized how stressful life is and how relieving it feels to pour all things out on a journal. That is why i have returned.

I decided to "rebrand" from You don't know me... well enough... to Trying to be stress-free. I see my life now as a series of events to combat the evil that is stress.

I realized that there's nothing you can much to control everyday situations. They are bound to happen. But what you can do is to control how you react and get affected by it.

My journey to a stress-free life begins here. Now.

eyin in RP (which by the way, is long overdue)

eyin was one of my batchmates in UP corps of cadet noncommissioned officers. he left for california after our second year in college. he left during the time when everyone left to find their own ways. i didn't even realize that i was one of those who left, without leaving the country to follow that path i can call my own...

but dramas aside, hey! eyin's back. he was supposed to come and meet us last year when he went home, pero di natuloy... now we have more than enough reasons to have a get-together. after the ROTC and org days, mahirap nang magkita-kita ang mga tao.

that is why we have to make the most out of eyin's stay in the philippines. baka matagalan pa ulit bago maulit...

Spirited away on day-off

Kinda weird, yes. I go on day-offs on Thursday and Saturday. Not your usual kind break from work. You can say that again...

But this day is kinda special. I decided to spend it all for myself. No rackets, no gimmicks, nothing. Just me, at home, watching movie, chatting away, downloading stuffs and all.

And today, i downloaded this cool Japanese cartoon entitled "Spirited Away". it's a really really nice thing to watch...

I did some research on the writer-director of Spirited Away, Hayao Miyazaki.

Amazed by his work, Spirited Away, I asked my aunt in Japan to send me other animated movies by Hayao.

Got the DVDs in two weeks. :)

Who wouldn't think about such things when th whole office looks like this? whew!!! i mean, the office has this christmas feel... but deep inside do i really feel the same?I really don't know what to feel at the moment... which reminds me... x-mas parties up and coming... (12/7-abscbni party; 12/14-abscbncorp party; tba-news dept party... and more to come)... hahahahahaiiii...

pre employment roller coaster ride

As a student, we all learned how hard it is just to comply with all the requirements needed for school, starting with entrance exam requirements, to enrollment requirements, to class requirements, to graduation and clearance requirements... No wonder, it feels good to put an end to the role of being a student...

But now, the former student is faced with another set of requirements to finish- something that has to do with belonging in the working class...

Here is a checklist of things i need to do within this week:

1. Medical Examination

just did so a while ago, and it consumed my whole day, so i wasn't able to get the other requirements... hai, i have to do so tomorrow...

2. SSS

hmmm... Social Security System... which makes me wonder. how secured are we in the society? hahaha. any which way, i have to get it!

3. TIN

just got a message from HR. they will be the one to get it for me. yes. one more down...

4. PAG IBIG

hahaha! i just remembered someone telling me where to get it!

5. PHILHEALTH

cheers to health! sana di ako mawalan ng health sa pagkuha ng lahat ng mga ito!!!

6. POLICE CLEARANCE

as far as i know, wala naman akong krimen na ginawa... hahaha... i guess it won't take long...

7. NBI CLEARANCE

same as above. though it takes days ata talaga...

8. BIRTH CERTIFICATE

have them already!!!!

9. COMMUNITY TAX CERTIFICATE (a.k.a. cedula)

i have one already. another thing to deduct from my list... good!

10. transcript of records

galing ako sa school kanina. sabi december pa daw pwede mag-apply. hai!!!!

see?! it really has to be difficult no!!!! Stress!

alumnus. a true maroon alumnus

after i finished my ROTC course, i had been an alumnus of UP Diliman. But i was an alumnus yet without a course. But now, i can call myself a ture maroon alumnus, given that yesterday, i was able to finish and submit our thesis.

It took us two weeks of sleepless nights as well as deprivation of social loafing for us to submit it on time yesterday. But hell did it pay off!!!!!

Now, i am suffering from flu, and colds. I guess, all the stress is getting in me now... At least it just did so now.
